¡Hola!

I grew up in Mallorca, a small island in the Mediterranean. I've been teaching Spanish to children and adults since I was 21. At first, it was simply a hobby I enjoyed in my free time. I loved analysing how the language works and how differently people use it.

Thirteen years later, here I am, still having fun with it, now as a certified Teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE).

I studied Pedagogy to learn more about how we learn, and Social Education to learn more about people and communities.

My work has also taken me into educational technology, including several years teaching educational robotics and coordinating educational activities. I've also gained practical experience in instructional design, bringing together my interests in education, creativity and technology. These experiences have shaped how I plan activities, choose resources and organise learning experiences.

Espanjan Nurkka is where that path has taken me so far. Over the years, I've learned that learning to speak a language involves using it, experiencing it, sharing it and enjoying it with other people.

That belief shapes my lessons, where stories, everyday situations and conversations create opportunities to explore Spanish and discover how it works. I enjoy helping learners make connections, recognise patterns and gradually find their own ways to express themselves.

When designing learning experiences, I draw on education research and the science of learning. I consider how attention, memory, emotion and motivation influence learning, and how new knowledge connects with what someone already knows.

As an educator, my philosophy is based on one simple idea: first and foremost, I'm a learner too. I want to keep learning about what I teach (even when it happens to be my native language!) and about how people learn. For me, becoming a better teacher is an ongoing process of asking questions, trying things, listening and reflecting.
