Welcome

I'm María, a Spanish teacher living in Finland, and the founder of Espanjan Nurkka, a learning community for anyone who wants to learn Spanish.

We're based in Finland, but our students can join us from anywhere in the world.

I believe the best way to learn a language is by using it.

That's why, from the very beginning, you'll learn through real-life situations, stories, conversations and meaningful activities that help you build the confidence to communicate in Spanish from day one.

Our lessons are taught 100% in Spanish, following an immersive approach based on comprehensible input. But don't worry! You don't need to understand every word to follow along. Visuals, gestures and context will help you make sense of what's happening.

I'm a pedagogue, social educator and certified Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) teacher, with over 12 years of teaching experience.

English can be used as a bridge whenever you need extra support with technical or administrative matters.

At Espanjan Nurkka, we use the CEFR levels (A1–C2), along with A0 for complete beginners, as a reference to understand your starting point and track your progress:

As a pedagogue, personalization is at the heart of my teaching.

No matter how you choose to learn Spanish or which service you choose, I take the time to understand why you want to learn, what you want to achieve, where you hope to use the language, and what interests you as a person.

I don't believe in following the same textbook or learning path with every student. Instead, I believe in learning Spanish through situations, topics and activities that are meaningful and relevant to you.

This also means we don't have to cover everything just because it's part of a standard curriculum. We can focus on what matters to you and spend less time on things that aren't relevant to your goals.
